This is the natural beach of Havelock island with its two kilometer long sandy beach. A dense forest is in the vicinity of the beach stands as an additional attraction for the visiting tourists. Vijayanagar beach is a long stretch of sand on the east coast of the island, punctuated occasionally by rock section. Most of the beach is lined by Mahua trees, whose trunks grow along the ground for many feet before they begin to climb vertically. Vijaynagar beach is just in front of Dolphin Yatri Niwas.
This beach is widely known as Hathi Tapu. Hathi in Hindi language is Elephant. It is 10 Kms from the jetty (trekking through the forest or by small boat journey) on the north western part of the island with rich coral reefs. Island camping (tent accommodations) is organized during the tourist season.
